Where SOBIC members have gone

- AKO Capital
Across sales and trading, M&A, debt and equity capital markets, private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, consultancy and accounting.
Small on Purpose.
SOBIC is a private investment and finance society at the University of Bath. Every member is interviewed before joining and the membership is kept small, so everyone is known, gets mentored and stands up to pitch.
For 16 years the aim has been to teach the finance a degree doesn’t cover, and to put Bath students in front of the people already doing the job.

What Members Do

Competitions
The yearly SOBIC stock pitch. Every December, portfolio managers lead teams of analysts through a full pitch, then present it to the committee and the club and defend it under questioning. In December 2025, seven teams competed.
When they come up, members also enter outside competitions: M&A pitches, inter-university stock pitches like Bath vs Bristol, and pitches run by firms that open doors, like the Barings Inter-University Stock Pitch.
